First ride...

Firstly just a thankyou to everyone who has helped me with advice over the last few months while I have been stripping and rebuilding my engine to replace mains and big ends.
I gave it its first ride yesterday; what a difference. Taut, no noise except induction, a fantastic exhaust beat from the new Goldie silencer, and a little appropriate tappet noise as it warmed up. And probably more to come with a bit of fine tuning!
It just goes to show, bikes deteriorate slowly and you don't notice how bad they are until you put them right!

Can't wait for the chance to give it a long ride - I've geared it for the Island!(Guernsey in this case, max. speed 35mph, but who cares?)

( So just where is this "long ride" on Guernsey then ??). Can the lads come and visit ?

Well, the longest ride would be what's known as "a spin" which is a ride round the coast, which is about 30 miles. That's not far, but it looks different if you go round again in the other direction!
I miss the Ace since moving here from London, though we have a biker/surfer cafe at Vazon and a surprisingly vibrant biking scene. This is probably because 14 year olds can ride a 50cc scooter, so most people have an early taste of two wheels.
Just a handful of REs on the island; A mass spin of Enfields would be awesome, so head on down to Weymouth or Portsmouth with your ferry tickets, everyone!
