Evening,

I have just traded in my 2016 Bullet EFI for a new Himalayan.
Everything seems spot on except for the compass. It just keeps flashing CA / HO. I believe this means it needs calibrating. My dealer told me to ride in a figure of 8 and it would set. It also says this in the hand book. I've tried this several times and no joy. I know that the compass is probably only a gimmick but the flashing is really annoying. Does anyone know of any other way to set it? Failing this maybe I'll just resort to sticking something over it!!

Any suggestions will be most welcome.....

This is going to sound crazy (it did to me) but when I took a Himalayan out for a test ride a few months ago the dealer told me that the compass didn't work if the fuel tank was over about 3/4 (may be more, can't remember exactly) full. I actually laughed thinking he was joking and, as a compass isn't exactly vital kit for me, off I went on a 40 mile, hour long test ride. Blow me if the thing didn't start working as the fuel gauge went down, no idea why but maybe it's a deliberate design element.
So my suggestion is ....... never fill the thing over half full ; )

Thanks guys.

Strange as I did fill the tank up just after picking it up? The dealer said it would probably set itself. I'll wait till I use up some more motion lotion! As someone rightly said it is under warranty for 2 years and the compass isn't exactly vital - Or maybe I'll try the 360 degree thingy.......

Well blow me down - I never knew petrol was magnetic ! I have had my Himalayan for nearly two years and have had the fuel tank empty, full - and everything in between - I promise you - the Compass has always worked - maybe its because we live in the Midlands ?

CA just means calibrate.

You can ride in figure of 8s until it sorts itself, or just ignore it and let it sort itself out.

Unplugging the battery causes this to happen.

in theory if you travel in a figure of eight fast enough you can travel through time.
