There are at least two issues in fitting an Amal MK2 carburettor and S&B air filter to the 500cc Bullet.

Firstly, the top of the carburettor can clash slightly with a mounting lug on the frame. so you might need to grind off 10-15mm.

Secondly, there is too much weight in the carburettor to be satisfactorily supported by the rubber manifold, causing the carburettor to vibrate badly, and causing the rubber manifold to fail prematurely.

You might need to fabricate a bracket to hold the back of the carburettor.

Hi , have you cut off one of the tank mounting tabs to achieve that ? Does the carb now sit upright ? I have a MK11 on mine sat at a jaunty angle !
Its vertical only when the bikes on its sidestand ! Seems to run ok though ...

The two-piece mounting moves things too far back, I suspect that there's a Mikuni rubber one-piece flange that will being it in a bit like the pre-'97 500 model Mikarb.

That's neat. I just hooked a zip tie round the frame tube and one of those bolts at the rear of the carb. Discreet and did the job.

Phil535, yes carb sits level, I have an alloy trials tank that is held on by a rubber belt at the back using another fabricated bracket

Although happy with the bracket I'd made to support the carburettor there was still more vibration than I would like (maybe if I'd used thicker aluminium?), so fabricated an additional support, like this:

And used some more appropriately sized "jubilee" clips. Normal ones are just 9mm wide, you need to use wider, these are 13mm wide.

The Amal is now rock solid.
