Hi 2016 b5 500, book says 101 link chain ut when 101 links counted you end up with side plates instead of roller end, what am I doing wrong. The classic using same motor runs a 18 tooth gearbox sprocket instead of a 17 ?

What I would do is to move the wheel all the way forward, then wrap the chain on and move the wheel back until it aligns where you want it.

The 101 chain uses a 'half link' to give the correct length.
The 102 is made up from complete links.
I would imagine that there is plenty of adjustment available to able to fit a 102 chain.
Chain is a 530, 'o ring' or plain is up to you.

what can confuse things is the stock B5 chain includes the half link as part of the chain, not as an 'accessory' item so only a standard split link is required to join the ends. Any non standard chain for a B5 will require a halfling.
