Hot ignition coil

Hi all,

Took the old 59 250cc clipper out for a good run on Tuesday afternoon up country, done 85 miles all told and it never missed a beat (thank god), put a couple of spanners etc in the toolbox next to the ignition coil and when I returned home I removed them and what a surprise I had when a touched the coil! boy was it hot round about 34/36 degrees C.

I did expect it to be warm of course, but under the impression that these coils where oil filled to help cooling.

Is this normal for my 6volt system.

Cheers.

With air temperatures around 30 celsius and the coil in the wake of a very hot engine, I would say the coil was running pretty cooly...certainly nothing to worry about.
