I am going to fit a set of bar end mirrors so decided to start taking the old grips off for replacement with open ended diamond pattern grips I found to work with the mirrors. The throttle grip is a bit of a funny setup with lugs that fit into the rubber and an end the covers the bar so I am just trimming off the end flush with the bar using a stanley knife. Do they sell replacement sleeves that are already open ended as this seems like bodge city at the minute?

I suppose it won't be so bad once I trim off those lugs and glue the grip rubber on, just wasn't what I was expecting under the rubber.

These mirrors are excellent but please note, like similar convex mirrors, if you can see a vehicle behind you seems small it is likely to be on your tail!

I found that too, Graham. You don't see what's behind you until it's started an overtaking manoeuvre. I ditched the convex mirror and got a good old Halcyon one, which is excellent.

I like the Halcyon mirrors and those were what I went for on my bike they are great. Years ago on a different bike I fitted some iron cross mirrors and they were truly awful, all distorted view like funfair mirrors. The good thing about the Halcyon ones is they can can fold in so they dont stick out when putting the bike away in the shed they kind of look like bulls horns as well and give the bike a slightly devilish look!

I have a very similar bodge with mine and as you correctly state, once the grip is fitted, you can't see it.
I'm fitting a Bumm bar-end mirror to mine! The question is, over or under the bar?
