I purchased a Mikuni VM28-49 to replace my old, tired Mikcarb. I found the thing on eBay, and the seller was out of Rexburg, ID, which is only a few hours from my location. I figured it was a match made in Heaven, as I wouldn’t have to wait a month for its arrIval (like I have with purchases out of India). Unfortunately, I was unaware of the fact that the VM28 is widely used by other bike manufacturers/models, and this one has much larger jets (a 200 main! Talk about running rich!) than I can utilize. I don’t suppose the Mikcarb/Mikuni jets are interchangeable? Does anyone know where I can find a set specifically for the Bullet, so I don’t have to track them down individually? Thank you!

Its not just the main jet you need to worry about. Mikuni made dozens if not hundreds of different size needles many as has been said were for 2 strokes so check the needle number and replace if necessary

One of the easier to spot differences which you’ll need to check is the needle jet, there are two types. If the carb has the wrong one it’ll never run right. Then simply ensure it’s the right size needle jet ;)

Thank you all for your replies! I'm aware I'll have to replace the pilot, main, and needle, as well as possibly the slide. I believe the chart calls for a 2.5 with my current set-up, and this thing's got a 3. I read somewhere that the needle jet is the one thing that's not interchangeable between the Mikuni and it's Mikcarb counterpart, but I realize you can't believe everything you read on the internet. Can anyone confirm this, please? Thanks again!

the needle jet is indeed not compatible.

Shucks! I was afraid of that. Does the Mikuni equivalent have the same "P0" part number? I could swap out the whole carb slide -complete with the needle valve- from the Mikcarb, couldnt I? I noticed the enricheners are also not cross-compatible.
