How do I check if a 1959 Clipper is genuine. Guy says he has papers from the R E Club confirming the bike authenticity. Engine Number is 1234. I Thought the Clipper oil filler was at the front of the Engine & had Mag Ignition. This engine looks like a Bullet. Any advice appreciated

Clipper was a budget Bullet so looks like one but with coil ignition and iron head among other things. Engine number is in the right range. Any chance of a pic? REgards, Mark

Yes the earlier Clipper engine was Model G based so would have had its oil filler at the front of the engine, loads different to the later Bullet based Clippers

This might help a bit, though the pictures could be a little clearer.

The Clipper in question has a alloy head & not iron one. I've more chance of getting knocked down by a snow plough than uploading a Photo. I will give the bike a miss. Thank you all for the welcomed advice

If it is a Clipper with an alloy head, it must be the later type engine with an alloy head fitted instead of the iron one, as there were no alloy head Model G type engines made.
