Clutch lining rivet question

Hello I got the clutch linings from our hosts the ones that rivet on to the clutch basket sprocket using seven rivets. I was wondering the best way to do this so the linings don't get cracked or fractured when installing the rivets?  Is there a preferred method, bearing in mind I don't have a rivet gun or any special rivet drift tools. I do have a grinder to potentially make up a rivet tool... Thanks,

If you are riveting anything delicate, you will need correct punches/anvils and maybe vise/holding device for said tools to avoid damage and give a neat job.
