Hi Folks,


I wondered if anyone knew if a Bullet had or could be fitted with anti-vibration engine mountings? Harley-Davidson Sportsters have them and some of the Big Twins too, I think.

I would think probably not. The engine on a Bullet forms part of the frame

Years ago I had an early Norton Commando with a rubber mounted engine. It was awful.

Hi if you have an iron barrel motor possibility of the crank being way out of balance also have been a few drive shafts that had 40 thou runout.balance factor should be about 63%. I could only ride for 30 mins before fingers went numb, think the factory only aligns the cranks but does not balance them.not rocket science to pull enfield motors apart like a big lawnmower (lawnmowers are smoother but).

Maybe Hagrid could tell us what Royal Enfield Bullet he has in mind. On the subject of rubber mounted engines - I've been the happy owner of a few MZ 250ES oddities - the engine was turbo smooth at mid to high revs, even if it bounced all over the place at tick-over!

Hi dont think you can eliminate vibration only move it up or down rev range. Trick is to get it at a speed you dont normally run at I get a bit between 100 and 109kph once through this area not bad up to 140 bad luck if it comes on at 80klms literally a pain in the butt and if you run too longin the vib range things come loose and fall off (cunning factory ploy to sell more spares) lol.

Very sorry, I should have replied long ago. Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't think about the engine being part of the frame. I have vibration isolating mount for the mirrors, (from our host), and they work very well. I then started wondering what if...?
