Hi, I need to change my indicators for the shorter LED ones this weekend, in order to make room for a pannier rack next week. Does anyone know how to do this - I presume somehow the rear number-plate board comes off so you can get at the inside of the indicator stalks. Is that right? If anyone's got any advice, would be appreciated. Cheers, Tom.

The following links to parts diagrams should be useful:

So looks like you need to undo 4 M6 nuts on the inside of the mudguard and the whole taillight/numberplate assembly will lift off.
Remember the LED indicators will not draw enough current to make the standard flasher relay work properly. It will either flash too quickly or not at all. You will either need to add ballast resistors to the indicators to increase their current draw or fit a replacement, electronic flasher relay which flashes at the same speed regardless of power load. The latter is the more elegant solution. You need one with two pins.

On the newer C5 it's only 3 bolts, 2 at the top and 1 at the bottom that holds the number plate holder and tail light on.

Ah well, still 2 more than on a classic engine bullet.

Cheers, that's all very helpful. I have bought the LED indicator kit from hosts, which includes resistors, so will go down that route. I might upgrade the flasher unit at some point down the line, but I'm not really sure where that is (headlight casing? tool box??) so for the moment, I'll just go with the resistors. However, if the flasher is somewhere easy to access and replace, like the toolbox, I might do that next week. Thanks so much guys. Tom.
