Hi I was out for a ride on my 2007 electra and the back tyre went flat and had no breakdown cover or anyone who could help, so had no option but to ride it home flat in second gear slowly. But someone said i will need a new tyre and i can't why i would ?

Would depend how far you travelled on the flat.
It can damage the sidewall of the tyre? Might look ok from the outside but internal cords and belts could be compromised?

I would have thought its caused some rim damage.Take it to your repair man for a check.By the way AA breakdown annual cover at £39 or less with others is worth its weight in gold.

Having done this very thing myself on a **2005** Electra-X (tyre creep around the rim caused the valve to rip off the inner tube), I would confidently expect that the wheel itself will be absolutely fine, and I don't think anything built a couple of years later will be noticeably more fragile.

The tyre will **probably** be OK after such a short distance at low speed, but if you take the complete wheel to a tyre fitting specialist to fit a new inner tube you can ask them to check the tyre sidewalls for signs of damage. If in doubt, fit a new tyre too.

We carry a build up bike trailer in most of our AA Patrol vans, the RAC and Green flag don't.

unless you have buckled your wheel, damaged the beading, or got loose spokes you will be ok with a new tyre and inner tube.

Hi guys----------If you had a tin of Gloop or Slime in your toolbox and a mini tyre pump you would have got home A-OK................Joyce and I were out wi 't ladz a few years back and stopped at The Truck Stop, Whitchurch for lunch, right by the front door !!............When I came back to the 500 Iron Bullet my amature puncture repairs from last week had given up the ghost and decided to go flat right there and then----in full view of the local "Chapter" etc...Out came the trusty tube and approx half an hour later we were on our way............100 miles later at around 5pm we arrived home with absolutely NO probs whatsoever !! .............I have no commercial connections with the cproducts mentioned !!...........PS}-- I also have ridden on flat tyres in the past and the rim had always been serviceable afterwards....but do get it professionally checked, if only for your own peace of mind................---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After fitting any of these products don't forget you should only check your tyre pressures with the valve positioned at or close to 12 O'clock.
