Andy, hi and welcome. Yes, you are right there are various mods but rather than write a list can you be a bit more specific please? What year and model do you have, how original is it, is it running, do you intend to completely or partly rebuild it etc etc. And not least, how experienced at rebuilding old engines are you? If the answer is not much, don't be put off, it's not hard but does need preparation and perhaps, a few special tools. You will also need a good old-fashioned engineering workshop. Rather than just post here (although that may help,) you might want to join the specialist group for RE Interceptors (and other Twins) at
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/RE_Interceptor/info it may take a few days to get you joined but the wealth of knowledge there is amazing. I have a 1, 1A and 2 and have done most of the mods that are available. But I have yet to fit the rotary oil pump, maybe one day! Also, where are you, I'm near Silverstone, J15 M1.

hi Mark thank you for the reply the bike is mostly there just the toolbox and lids plus the top yoke are missing but thats not a worry as i will build it how i want. i have not built a twin for a number of years but have done some RE singles the last one beaning a big head bullet made to look like a Fury i have a few friend that have mk2 inters and will get some support from them them also have some good engineering companies that they use
i will join up the group and hopefully within 6 months the crank and rods are at this moment beaning checked out all i need to do now is buy some of the missing studs and tubes will wonder through the parts book and see what i need
i live just out side Southend on Sea

Hi Andy, what does your engine number start with, is it YB? It makes a difference as to what mods you do. For starters, while you have the motor apart, block up the rocker oil feed across the crankcases. Then fit the 1 into 4 rocker oil feed pipe from Hitchcocks. Block up the small hole on the r/h crankcase barrel face, this is a manufacturing drilling and not needed in use. Put in a grubscrew so you can remove it for cleaning if needed. Get the crank balanced, although the Factory did it as standard modern methods are even better, you will need the new pistons, rings and big end shells and bolts for this. Use new bolts! Polish the rods. Clean the crank sludge trap, very important! Do you want to do the big bore breather modification? If so now is the time.
