While we have recently been following Tom's progress with ASBO 26 with interest, another of Bullet Whisperer's engines went into one of my long-delayed project bikes some time previously. After a number of "life issues" (successfully concluded, I might add) it occurred to me that I really ought to get on and sort out the last two weeks' worth of work that stood between me and the completed bike - TWO-AND-A-HALF-YEARS-AGO!



Anyhow, I ran out of jobs last night and it fired up for the first time, and it passed its MoT this morning (hopefully the last one as a legal requirement).



Well here she is - ASBO 14 or Not A Fury as she is also known...

Adrian, that is lovely, well done. Coincidentally Chris Tindal sent me a picture last night of his Bighead on which he has just finished a long rebuild and it looks very similar although in UK market trim. I'll let him post a pic and explain the saga of his bike! As it happens I have a BH engine which I started rebuilding ooooh ages ago and really must get sorted!

I have previous where replacing casquettes is concerned. Let's go back to 2006...





You could even go back to my old BSA C15 getting Starfire headlamp brackets and a separate 7" headlamp in 1982 instead of the 'orrible BSA pressed tin nacelle.



The whole casquette/nacelle thingy which affected many British bikes in the 50's and early 60's was a spin-off of the "jet-age" designer styling which even fed down to electric food mixers for the newly-prosperous housewives of the "you've never had it so good" era. Not my thing! ;o)

I blow hot and cold with casquettes, but I think the Enfield version was by far the best from that era. The early (and Indian) version is particularly stylish and has an Art Deco look about it. Less keen on the later Redditch one, which looks a little uglier.



I like how the small tank shows off the Bighead. Now that has to be one of the best looking Brit single engines.

Clearance under that tank is a bit tight Chris, it needed a chunk of radiator hose to protect the under-side edge of the tank from vibrating against the rocker feed. I have three of those Indian-made replica small panel tanks and only one of them actually fits this bike! The other two aren't being wasted, though.
