The speedo of my 350 Indian Enfield has provision for a neutral light but it's not present connected to the wiring loom. The bike is (or at least the engine and gearbox) are mid-70's will it have a neutral switch or is the speedo from a later model that offered such a facility. If the box does have a neutral switch, where is it located?

Thanks

As far as I know Only the five speed gear box had neutral switch on the gear box like the bullet sixty five. Not 1965.

The 500 and 535 Lightnings both have a 4 speed gearbox and a neutral light switch. However. The part number for the gearbox casing (170177) is different from the standard Bullet (111050). The neutral switch is located on the rear of the gearbox. It's visible by looking at the back of the box. I've no idea if a blanking bolt was used on a Bullet box, or if a hole was drilled for a Lightning.

My 350 bullet is on its fourth speedo. I seem to get around 20k miles out of one before either the needle falls off or the damping spring snaps. Presumably from a combination of lacklusture Indian build quality and chronic vibration associated with a thumpy engine. So anecdotally, there is a good chance the speedo on your bike is not original.
