Clutch crusader 1957

Clutch is sending me mad
Nothing was working so orded the upgrade 6 spring
And new distance tubes
And 1 new cork plate
Found that the old distance tube had been cut down i think .
But then found that with everything on the springs where almost fully together and the lever impossible to pull .
So after a call to hitchcocks thay think maybe the centre assembly mite still be the original for a 2 cork clutch
So tyred just 2 in and things do seam to fit better and i can pull the lever still very very stiff.
But the clutch is just slipping now
Have sent some photos to hitchcocks for advice but really don't no what else to try the ball bearing and adjuster are all ok and i have adjusted it each time i have taken the plaets out .
Really dont no where to go from here
