Panier frames

Hi everyone, I have Mr H's panier support frames fitted to my 2012 Efi to support my throw over pannier bags. Does anyone know if they are suitable for mounting hard paniers on? I have seen universal mounting kits for sale where you drill the back of the panniers to fit to the frame. I was looking at fitting a set of Givi hard panniers. Any advice would be appreciated. Mick.

Hard to say. The pannier frames I got with the Givi panniers I bought from Hitchcock’s have appropriate holes and threads in them to accept the standard Givi fittings. Two go on the bottom rail to accept the slots at the inside bottom of each pannier. A locking plate fits on the top rail, together with two rubber buffers to stop the panniers wearing against the frame. I have no idea what frame you have, but the one supplied to accept the Givis is a long rectangle, viewed from the side. As I got all the bits together I don’t know which bits other than the keys came with the panniers. As the bits other than the frame came in Givi wrapping (IIRC), I would imagine that they came with the panniers. To me it would be a shame to drill the plastic panniers to fit a universal kit. The Givi mounting system is neat and secure. Best bet is to talk to Hitchcock’s.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at Mr H's frames and panniers but at £350, couldn't quite justify that. The frames I have are Part No. 93040 for soft luggage but they do seem to be very solid.
