EFI Oil filter cap

Hello!

Has anyone developed any probs with their sprung loaded oil filter cap? (UCE engine).

I have undertaken a couple of oil and filter changes without problem but this evening it won't reassemble - and for the life of me I can't see why.

Anyway it's Saturday evening so I'm not standing out there any longer and having a beer until I can think of another approach.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

A good idea, Rich, walk away and have a rest, usually solutions come easily when having a spell, rather than staying with it and getting frustrated.

For some reason only known to REI, the central shaft section of the spring cap assembly has a sharp ridge where it changes diameter.
This can not damage the O ring (you know, that very important tiny little thing responsible for maintaining engine oil pressure) but also permits other parts of the assembly as well as the O ring itself to catch on the step which can prevent the spring cap assembly unit from fully compressing unless its tightened down almost square to the engine.

Thanks Leon. This morning it looks as if the filler cap rim might have become buckled! A new one might help.
