A very interesting article here about the claims and reality of some LED bulbs and chip technology. While this talks mainly about fitment to modern cars the explanation of how main beams work for us in use and how the design of bulbs radically changes the efficiency of the 'extra' light produced is very clear. https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/blog/ ... brightest/

Hi Mark----- yes, that was very interesting and gave quite a fair comparison I thought...........On my last 500 Bullet I tried our hosts Phillips Moto/City vision bulb ( Page 75 ) which was OK, but I don't do much--if any night riding so didn't get much of a chance to try it really............For motorcycle LED's try our good friend Paul Goff here}---- http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyWhyNotLEDs.htm --------For us "Classic" Motorcyclists the real benefit is the much reduced power consumption that LEDs draw....thus giving old Dynamo systems an easier life !!

Thanks Alan but I would point LED bulb buyers to my mate Pete at http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/ He is a friend but without doubt, quality range and service are all much better not to mention the other products.

So if the headlight bulb was replaced with an LED unit will it stop the flickering that we get from the standard bulb as the LED unit drawers less power, also has anyone fitted one of these LED units into the Bullet casket, I have the feeling that the box at the back of the bulb will fowl the Speedo cable, please someone correct me if I wrong???

Not a problem Bertie.Been running on LED for a year now.The H4 version is a pin for pin and spatial replacement for the filament bulb.Remember though the "bluer"the light the less actual illumination. Also I am not convinced all the bulbs on sale are street legal.I put the old Minda back on for the MOT,to save any embarrassment.

Tornado went through MOT, LED stop tail, dippable headlamp LED Pete dynamo regulators, half the indicators led (so the tell tale still works), led high bean tell tale, and led speedo light (Green) cool!
