Jamesy, there seems to be a glitch on the message board and I can't reply to your post.
Anyway, mine measures 25.4mm = 1 inch across the flats.

Update.Eventualy got the nut off.Found a socket and had the wheel up on the vice still wouldn't budge.hammer and pin punched it off. Thanks.
