On a 2016 C5, the low fuel light came on 10 minutes after filling the tank, stayed on 10 minutes, went off and came on every so often. Is it best to just disconnect and leave it or is it simple to fix?

Is the bike still under warranty? If it is I’d get the dealer to sort it. If not, there are two possibilities: either there is something wrong with the float/mechanism or there is a loose electrical connection. I’d try jiggling the connector from the wire that comes from the bottom of the tank, tracing it through to the MIL. It’s possible that the connector to the MIL is dodgy; this is easily checked by disconnecting the plug and having a look. It could be that the float is sticking or, less likely given the age of the bike, it has dissolved. Yes, really! The Indians don’t have ethanol in their fuel so presumably didn’t consider making the float ethanol-proof.....I believe late models don’t have this issue but when ethanol-proof floats were introduced I don’t know. IIRC you’d have to remove the fuel pump plate to access the float. This isn’t particularly difficult but is best done when the tank is low on fuel. If you lay the tank on a towel or something you don’t have to drain the tank
though I wouldn’t advise smoking... Also if you are fairly quick in putting the pump plate back you should be ok to reuse the large O ring. I did and the tank has never leaked since. Good luck.

Thanks for that. I bought it second hand from a dealer that went bust so no guarantee. With a fullish tank, the tank vibrates like mad at 3000rpm so connections could be affected by that. I'll investigate further.
