Hi, Commencing the restoration of a 1937 Model S2 and would like to make contact with anyone with similar bike with intention of exchanging ideas. My project bike is fairly complete but would like some technical assistance. Also photos showing the finished bike would also be appreciated. Paul.

Hi Harry,
Thank you for your reply. Since I started this project I have struggled to find detailed information on this particular model and given the age of the bike even parts are very hard to come by. Even joining the Royal Enfield Club of Aust didn't help. I have a fairly extensive workshop and can manufacture most parts its just finding someone who knows what the parts are and how they fit together. I have already completely rebuilt the motor and gearbox and they are back in the frame. Someone has rebuilt the carby and another has put together a clutch (with cork inserts) so I am at the stage of putting the primary chain case back on, fitting the drive gear and clutch and fitting the foot pegs. As the bike did not have foot pegs I am not sure how this all goes together. Also the two halves of the chain case do not fit well together and would not hold any oil. I am assuming there must be some seals??.
I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I have only found reference to one other 1937 Model S2 and that one was on Canada. Any photos would be GREATLY appreciated as would any technical advise. Specific photos of certain areas of the bike would be even better like a photo of an open chain case. Where abouts in this internet world do you live??
I thank you for reply and look forward to hearing from you again.
Regards Paul.

Hi Paul. I'm in Brisbane currently restoring a Model A of the same age as your S2 and wish to ask you some questions. Could you please email me.

There was one sold in Axbridge, Somerset. It's a 1938, but have lifted the pics anyway in the hope they might be useful. Even if not, it is still a nice looking motorcycle!

But strangely, there was an advert from Wollongong NSW for a 1938 S2 with the same pictures??!??

Don't have any personal knowledge of these S2's myself.

Sorry, cocked that up, the Woolongong S2 is a different bike.
I will go try to wake up with my morning coffee now!
