Hi Guys

Removed the bottom bolt and it is dis-engaged , still spring not pulling with bare hands.
how to pull them springs. other bolt is moving free. may be thread gone.

You may not need to remove the bottom stud. The fork spring screws onto a scroll which is fitted to the bottom stud, try unscrewing the spring like you would a bolt. If you need to strip the bottom slider completely heat will probably help, degrease it well and use a hot air gun to get the whole thing up to a good temperature. If it still won't shift a blow lamp may be required for extra heat!

Hi, The spring is a close fit in the tube. I found it better to dismantle the bottom and push the spring out from above. Bear in mind that the spring is attached at the bottom and any part jammed at that end will stop it being pulled up. The spring has a bush attached midway which can be very tight. Vince

Vince, the bronze scroll goes on the spring? I thought it went on the stud, the other way makes more sense come to think of it. I have a set of G/J forks and some extra parts but I've never assembled them or dismantled them either!

Forgot to say, ET, looking at the picture of your forks, the wheel spindle recess on the fork bottom appears to have been filed out or enlarged, presumably to take a larger spindle. You can see the cap has a smaller semi-circle in it. I would check this now before you spend any more money on it!

Vince is correct about the bush in the centre, I had similar issues persuading the springs to come out of Model G fork tubes. If the oil has dried to gunge it will take a long soak in diesel or wd40 to free it, or some heat as Mark suggests. But be careful as the bushes in my tubes were plastic. The spring is unlikely to unwind from the scroll, the lower stud is secured to the scroll by a nut on the inside, so if this has loosened the stud will just turn without undoing.

Hi Guys----- Are these the forks in question ??----------If so you'll find that the threaded end has jammed in the Aluminium and will need the gentle use of a steel drift and hammer...........I've had this happen on 3 out of 4 Classic Bullets in recent years...........
