I am looking for a pair of 7" front brake shoes for my 1961 500 Twin. The ones with the bike have been badly modified. Only one of the shoes is a correct one. The other is a bullet shoe which is smaller. The Operating cam has be altered to try and make the bodgy brake set up work. It probably never did!!!!
Our hosts will only replace a whole set upon receipt of the old ones. They will not sell a complete set or one shoe. They are the same shoes used in the Crusader model.
Is anybody able to help or give me a trail to follow purchas 1 shoe or a pair?
Cheers

You should NEVER replace one brake shoe or brake pad.

True, but he needs 2 to get an exchange set from Hitchcocks as he explained.

Peter, you're in luck. I do have one (or the pair,) I would happily part with if it gets you back on the road. By the way, the 1961 bike was officially called the Meteor Minor, the title 500 Twin actually refers to the earlier model made from 1950 to 1955 which shares very few common parts. Anyway, post some contact details and we'll continue this off board as I think our Hosts would prefer!
