2009 Efi. Fitted with H's free flow pipe and silencer with good results. Is it worth fitting free flow filter and updated ecu? What do you think?

I suppose if you've eased the gasflow out you might as well do the in part of the equation! (Hi Alan, you are up late! I'm working so l have an excuse, what's yours?!) REgards, Mark

Hi Mark------- Late ??... not really...I usually go to bed around 02.00 then sleep-through to 10.00 when the Post arrives....Breakfast for the Cat and myself then computer work ( E-Bay sell/buy,...E-Mails send & reply, phone calls, ordering spares etc.) through to 13.00 14.00 to 18.00 "At work" in the Workshop on Live Steam locomotives ( Build, Repairs and restoration )....18.00 to 20.00 Dinner & watch T/V....20.00 to 23.59 ( there's no 24.00 or midnight on the 24Hr. clock but there is a 12.00 = midday.!!) more work in the workshop...00.01 through to 02.00 will be more computer work , usually a mix of Engineering research etc. and Forum activity....

That's for Mon to Sat..Sunday's are for Railway and/or Motorcycle activity in the Winter whilst during the Spring, Summer and Autumn we have Oswestry Model Engineering Society tracksite working day on the Tuesday and the same event at Wolverhampton MES on the Thursday..... Also, Sats and Suns are now given over to Motorcycle ride-outs and Miniature public train driving on the Sundays.............Unusually I'm awake now because Joyce and I are off to Kidderminster to collect some OO gauge Blue Pullman spares for my Tri-anG Western Region 8-Car set that I'm assembling.........Grow old ???------sorry, haven't got the time !!.....PS}--- Sorry Beamish, I'll get off my soapbox now...

Hi beamish, I guess it depends on whether or not you're happy with the performance at the moment? Mine's an 09 too with the same mods as yours, and personally I'll leave it at that. The silencer was changed mainly for looks and sound rather than any performance gain. She'll bop along all day at 60ish, and IMHO becomes rather unpleasant above 70 anyway, so why try to increase the performance? But then, I've got other bikes if I need to get somewhere in a hurry,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Although, I'm not a huge fan of EFI, so if I wanted to tune the bike up I'd probably start with a carb conversion anyway.

I’m not sure what is meant by updated ECU; AFAIK nobody reflashes the ECU fitted to these engines. The options available are either an aftermarket PCV or Dobeck; these piggyback back on the ECU and allow the fuelling to be adjusted. The PCV is expensive; I chose the cheaper carb conversion and have the same exhaust. With the carb you get a free-flowing cone air filter. These sounds nicely, making a chuffing sound where it should be, not somewhere down by the toolbox. You also have an extra toolbox or storage space where the old air filter used to be. Is performance increased? No, not really. These engines need a performance cam and/or big bore kit to gain much power. It’s not really what they’re about. I have a proper bike for that.

Thanks for the responses. I think that on reflection I will leave well alone. AlanR what a timetable. I envy your single mindedness. I find grand children, ancient relatives, and the general nuts and bolts of life get in my way. Oh, and my propensity to indolence.'

Ah, but everything comes with a Price ticket, eh ?? ( Apologies Mr.H...I didn't mean Henry !!)------In my case no family, grandchildren etc....It would seem that this thread title is apt in more ways than one ??..

Mark, Joyce can't ride pillion anymore so it would have to be in the car, if we have to be in the area and if we can afford the extra fuel---- but we'll try our best ....
