Hi guys----not a bike engine but technically interesting so I thought you might like to see this ??........The full size ones originated in the Marine world and later were fitted into some railway applications..........If you are into modern, 3-D printing why not give it a go ??

They have a full size sectioned Deltic engine in the rail museum at york. Another wierd one was the commer knocker diesel pistons came together no cyl head cranks were outboard via rocker shafts.quarries in west sydney had them as gravel trucks, flat chat up hill the sound was amazing.

Back when dinosaurs ruled the earth at the age of 11 I did a long distance trip in the passenger seat of a TS3 powered lorry It was as noisy inside as out.

----and after some searching, here's the film......go to 4.04 to see the great man himself doing his usual small cameo appearance ( Black bowler hat ) then for that ride in the back of a 1965 Commer "Screamer" ( Apt name for the film ?? ),..start at 1.15.24 and just watch it unfold....Enjoy !!

The Army had use of the Rolls Royce K60 Engine in various AFV's ( Armoured Fighting Vehicles )......It is a twin-crank, opposed piston, 2-stroke diesel with a Rootes-type charge air blower.....It stands vertically in its frame......It was capable of multi-fuel use.....In effect it 's like one bank from that Deltic engine seen earlier............Here's one that has been removed from a privately owned Abbott SP gun and is being run-up via slave and umbilical attachments.............

Saw a Deltic being started once at an open day for London Transport locomotives, long story. Anyway, I seem to recall they had to start a secondary engine to charge the air compressors to then get the main engine to turn over to fire up which was awesome. The smoke!! The noise!!! It took forever, you can see why they didn't turn 'em off once they were started!
