I just bought a 2005 500cc Bullett. I live in Long Island NY. I just found a puddle of primary case oil under the primary the next day. The Bullett only has 850 miles on it since 2005. All I did was start it up for a few minutes. I treat the bike very easily since I only bought it used 2 weeks ago. I put gasoline in the primary and nothing leaked until I opened the overflow bolt and then the gasoline came dripping out of the primary cover. So I guess I blew the primary gasket. I need a primary gasket and I need a owners manual and a service manual for the 2005 Bullett. I need to know what kind of oil and filter I need and where can I get it in NY? I also need to get primary oil and clutch oil too.

Get that gas out of there - all of it- before you use the bike.
The sealing surface of outer cover of the primary is often very badly machined. You can dress this smooth on a flat board or glass with some emery paper on it.
Check the big O ring round the edge is in good condition - it should seal with a smear of grease but don't overtighten the outer.
If it still leaks, check it's not coming from the gearbox mainshaft seal where it comes through the back of the case (there's an oil seal here) The fact that it didn't leak while it was stood suggests this may be the case. You need to remove the clutch to get to this of course.
Our hosts ship to US and they are pretty quick as well. They have everything you need.

Just to explain why you can't have gas in there.
That's where your alternator lives. Electricity generator = possible sparks.

Hi MITCH----and welcome to the group!......There's only one place for Petrol ( Gas ) and that's in the Gas tank !!...Paint thinners or Paraffin might be better to search out leaks ( I use parafin after valve grinding for example )....Although flammable they are a lot less volatile than gasoline !!............As the Alternator is an induction based device I don't think sparks will be evident unless there is a mechanical fault of some sort...

Mitch, when buying oil filters I'd be inclined to buy in bulk and always keep one soaked in engine oil ready for the next change----ie at the next 1,000 miles interval...

Mitch, while you're here look in the Accessory Shop and Bullet Catalogue (left sidebar) to see what extras/options are available. For instance if doing the oil filter fit a magnet and a packing piece (not packing a piece like Americans usually do!) which helps get oil pressure up as quick as possible after an oil change. Any good multigrade will do, don't use monograde oils, these motors were designed to run on 20/50.

I'm a bit puzzled by this:
"I put gasoline in the primary and nothing leaked until I opened the overflow bolt and then the gasoline came dripping out of the primary cover." Was the gasoline coming from the level hole or the gasket?
