Kickstarter shaft

Hi there is a bush in the kickstarter shaft assy, how does one get it out to replace it.if i heat the large endbush will expand too, thought about welding bolt in hole then useing extracter on bolt to pull bush out.any ideas.

I am not familiar with the position of the bush, however, if it is in a blind hole, cut a slot along its length with a Dremil(spell check?) or small chisel, this well allow you to make it smaller and it will contract so you will be able to pull it out. If you can get a hacksaw through, cut a slot with that.

Or if it's a blind hole, get a short length of round bar to fit, fill the hole with grease and drive the bar in, this should push the bush out.

An obvious choice for a suitable size of round bar for the above would be the end of the layshaft itself.

Yes that is the obvious choice, but, I didn't want anyone shouting that they had damaged the shaft hitting it with a bloody big hammer. 😁

I tap a coarse thread into the old bush, then use a bolt and sleeve to draw it out...
