Hi im looking to replace the steering lock on a 1995 enfield bullet, i have got the head stripped down and can see the pin in the headstock tube.
Just wondering how the lock barrel comes out?

Hi Nicky, I was told when I bought mine to not use that lock as it's a problem if it gets forced, and it's better therefore to use a strong chain or whatever. I know that's not what you asked, but a thought anyway. Best regards, Chris

I would echo the above. In my experience of having had several motorcycles stolen, a steering lock doesn't prevent the theft, they are flimsy and comparastively eassy to break. It merely leads to having more damage to repair in the event the bike is recovered and I refuse to use one. Usually damage consisting of a damaged yoke, bent handlebar, broken throttle tube and broken switchgear. Worst case, they also break the frame steering lockstop.

If it's the Neiman type, they're usually secured by a hammered in a pin (and washer), once that's been removed the key is required along with some twisting and pulling to get part of the lock (sometimes a hardened roll pin) to follow a hidden channel in the lock sleeve to permit removal of the barrel itself.
