Can you be a bit more specific please because well into the 1970s practically everything produced in Britain with wheels and an engine had a Smith's speedo.

Sorry all, for not mentioning it clear..I bought a RE Bullet 1957, it has smith speedo...Need to check whether it is original ? How to upload photos to this message here

If it helps, the original would have been chronometric. These instruments indicated the speed in stages rather than the needle moving up steadily. The modern copies proudly state they are chronometric but they're not.

It's quite obvious when you compare them side by side. If you google "Indian repro smiths speedo" and look at the images, then "Original Smiths chronometric" and compare the pictures you'll soon get your eye in. The Indian ones never have the trip facility so there's never the lower digits (one of them orange) just the upper mileage ones. Also, Indian ones sometimes have the white 30mph liine at 40mph. I can take a side by side shot of both mine and upload it later if it helps.

Just looked in our hosts used instruments section. Look at item 4, the original, then look at item 10, the repro. From these you should be able to work out what yours is.
