WD CO primary chaincase seal

Hi All,

Two quick questions!

1) The big rubber seal around the primary chaincase doesn't look ideal. It leaked oil before the clutch rebuild I've just done and I suspect it will leak oil after as well! I'm planning to put a small bead of silicon sealer around it to ensure it's oil tight (and hopefully not glue it on altogether). What have other people done?

2) The footpeg holds the chaincase on. What's the proper arrangement of spacers, washers and seals to stop oil leaking where the footpeg bar passes through the case. Mine seems to have the footpeg, two large metal washer looking things, a bit of silicone sealer(!), then it joins the chain case.

Any help / advice gratefully received!

It's usually the finish on the outer case that's at fault. Rub that flat on Emery paper glued to a flat surface. I did this and it now seals with a smear of grease. Make sure it's not the clutch spindle seal that's leaking.
