I need to replace my spray clutch as it has failed on my AVL engine, do I need all the special tools that are shown in the handbook and as noted in the Hitchcocks parts book.

When I had a BSA A65 (1968) and a Matchless G3LS (1951) no special tools where needed, any advice would be helpful.

You will need a puller for the Rotor, and 'some times' the eng sprocket can be a tight fit...

The three M8 countersunk socket screws which hold the inner chaincase onto the crankcase are reputed to be made of rather poor metal, make sure whatever allen key or socket you're using is a really good fit. I may have been lucky... A.

May be.

The clutch can be removed with out it, but if you are uncertain, it wont hurt to have on hand. The threads of the three 1/4" bsf set-screws of the tool can be dodgy in temper.

Actually, having said that most of the factory WS tools are a bit suspect when it comes to 'quality'.

I'll second that statement !!----------Item in question was the big "T" shaped hexagonal shaft tool for winding the fork legs in and out of the Casquette......First application ( By hand, as designed ) and the shaft developed the beginnings of a twist !!.......I made my own in the end..
