Hi, I felt this problem on my bullet 350,year 2008 : In deceleration, the engine does not immediately fall to the idle , the same thing happens when accelerating and releasing the gas. this problem occurs both with and without standard air filter, either with open muffler or standard silencer. I fitted boyer bransden ignition, and it is perfectly adjusted. I checked air leaks from the carburettor, but it's all right. Cables, spark, nuts and screws all tightened to perfection ... what do you think? could it be a leak from the head gasket?

Not sure if I am reading this right, but have you checked the routing if the cable alll the way, particularly where it goes in the carb? Easy for it to sort of kink, catch there even by only 1/8th inch or so? Good luck, Chris

Before converting to EFI I used to use a bit of self amalgamating tape hold the throttle cable secure with the added bonus of sealing up the air leak if there wasn't already a rubber boot fitted.

Could also be a worn throttle slide. Worth a look.If there is too much horizontal play, they can jam in the carb body at a slight angle on the way down. Some of them are an horifically bad fit even from new.
