can anybody advise what torque setting for the nut which holds the outer primary chain case on please.
bike 2002 350.
Had ATF leak from said case so replaced the seal original measured 15mm New one 16mm so hope that solves it.
Thanks any help.

To my mind, that's one of those nuts that is very much a "by feel" carry on. Almost certainly needs doing up much less tight than most people would imagine. I go for nipping it up then about another 1/2 turn then see if it leaks.
A torque wrench is probably counter productive in this application. More people damage their vehicles with torque wrenches than any other sort of wrench because you can go on tightening past the point where you should have stopped because the wrench says it's ok. A nut in the centre of large, flat alloy casting made of a mix melted down coke cans and elephant dung is certainly a good candidate for damage.

nicknick109, I suggest making sure the mating faces are flat first.

Hi Guys-------- Have a look at this}----
https://www.convertunits.com/from/newto ... oot+pounds --- from which you can see that 1.4Nm = 1.033Ftlbs which is indeed a "Light nip" by any standards
I tend to use the same approach as Stinkwheel ie}--- a light nip first followed by a gently applied 1/2 turn and check...

Same as stinkwheel. Too tight and it will distort the cover and leak too loose and it will also leak. Stinkwheel is right a torque wrench around a Royal Enfield can get you into a lot of trouble. With Indian alloy torquing up to what they recommend can result in a stripped thread, ask me how I know. A very short spanner and the feel through your hands is what I found to be the best torque wrench around an Indian made Royal Enfield.

I have to say Ive always been incredibly impressed with how oil tight the RE primary cases are on both Redditch and Madras machines. Beat the hell out of old AMC machines Ive had at any rate. I tighten mine tight with a short spannerand have a thin fibre washer under the nut. Never leaks a drop.
