Title says it all, Electra, now R/H shift, L/H brake, all went well, kit had everything except the means to move the brake light switch,(easily modified and moved) Bike transformed, esp the brake, now really effective,I highly reccommend the conversion, it looks so much better too ! New sprag + 19t sprocket fitted too !

Norm, yes, it looks and feels right now somehow, may reduce the incidence of questions like 'Is that one of them Indian replicas' which make my blood boil !!
Craig & John, the instructions are brief, and assume you have a manual, and reasonable level of mechanical aptitude, the engine/box need not be removed if keeping 'up for up' gearchange as I have, you also keep the neutral light this way, if you want 'one up,4 down' then engine out is best. fitting the blanking plugs is fiddly, I put some Hylomar on them and tapped them in from the opposite side with a 3/8 extension bar via the hole vacated by the gearchange cross-shaft (after removing the seals !, keep one for the new gearbox outer case)
The only other thing to do that was not mentioned was to drill out the frame bore where the new pivot for the brake pedal fixes, the hole is shouldered as std.
Oh and dont lose the clutch push rod and ball bearing on the drive, and not realise until nearly all assembled again, and unable to get a clutch at all ! (Doh!!!)

Thanks for the feed Back Ian...
...AND If Mr H' Is Listening !, If You do Tech Notes For a £3 Pawl How about some For the Gear Box £150 Conversion...
I Am tempted by the 1 up 4 down R/H side to aid Confusion When swapping over Bikes, Dont have This Prob's on Japs as they are So different From ENFIELDs......
And I Dont really Suffer From Left/Right syndrome BUT, Changing up instead of down & on the Right Side is Pushing it...Etc

Cheers for now & thanks again... Craig

Ian,
You can easily wrong foot the people who ask that annoying question (most wouldn't have a clue anyway, just showing off about how much they know or don't) by just saying "No this is a real Indian Enfield" and walk off. It always confuses them.

Ian,
Another thing, now it is right shift is to just ask them, "What do you know about gearboxes, this is right shift" and then walk away. 10 minutes later if you look back they will still be standing there trying to work out what you were on about

I just tell people that when they started making these bikes, India was still part of Britain.
