The right hand box on my e.f.i Classic Chrome which houses the air filter does not close fully. The left one is fine. There appears to have been some persuasion used in order to close it and the locking lever has been bent to compensate for the lid not seating. The problem may be caused by the lid hinges having been spot-welded to the case incorrectly or maybe the box distorted somewhat when it was bolted to the frame.I need to look at this but meanwhile wondered if anyone else has had the same problem.I did see on our host's website that there are chrome boxes but they are out of stock right now.Looking forward to some replies. Thanks

Hello there, the locking mechanism on these tool boxes are very poor quality, both of mine broke eventually through fatigue and i made new ones that don't require a key. The tab that holds these lids closed is very short and sometimes let go. You could try making new levers that will engage with the tabs more positively. Sorry, this doesn't help much.
Regards, Mike.

Thanks Mike. I will keep an eye on the levers. Meanwhile I'll take the box off and see if I can get the lid to close properly. Thanks

Considering on some of our bikes a £350 ECU sits in one of the tool boxes and is ripe for the taking when the lock fails it's a pretty poor show :(
