Hello All , just returned from a blast with my two lads ...running a 2012 500 bullet and sidecar outfit for a few years now - its had its usual electric issues and its personality has settled a little with a couple of minor issues im sure I could sort with a little advice from my fellow riders .

#1 I replaced the starter solenoid approx 12 month ago worked well but recently the only electric start Im getting is a click at the solenoid ..Ive checked cleaned connection at motor and on battery and charging etc -- it still kicks .I have a meter !!...very basic knowledge on how to test individual components to sort by means of elimination ..so any "easy speak" would be appreciated ..thanks .

"2 its EFI - has always run tick tock not missing a beat up and down dale 3 up - but the tickover regulates up and down - ive adjusted via top of carb body with screw both ways to see if it finds itself - ive also checked nuts etc on manifold for air leaks etc - uncertain where and if theres a vacuum set up ..

Would appreciate any tricks - easy speak electrical - advice ...thanks all

Hi ZANNSTU---- OK folks, I'll be brave and pick this one up as it's been 2 days and no response...First it'd help me if you posted a photo of your bike because you say it's an EFi yet you talk about the "top of the Carb body"...An EFi bike doesn't have a Carb. but a Fuel Injector ... and if I were you I'd leave that item well alone for now......When you say the tickover ( Idling speed ) "regulates up and down" that's normally referred to as}---"Hunting"...With the engine at idling speed try spraying some WD40 ( other similar products are available !!) over the inlet manifold and any other joining faces between the Injector body and the Cyl. Head...If the engine sound changes plus a bit of temporary smoke in the exhaust then you probably have a warped joint, even with the nuts up tight...Finally there is a sort of test to prove either the starter or solenoid at fault by temp. by-passing the solenoid ...BUT this really needs someone who knows what they are doing to be with you....Sorry, that's the best I can do at the moment..Others who own and run an EFi might have more info. on fault-finding the engine management electronics system for you.............Photo PLEEEEEESE !!

There is some info on friends of royal enfield Belgium website. It involves using a floating wire in the electrics compartment to display fault codes. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Sorted thanks Alan --

starter solenoid was only 6 months old - replaced and working

carb body - efi - fuel delivery system !! wasn't searching when riding more tickover standing hence the mystery ?!

A replacement NGK BPR6ES seems to have resolved .

Thanks for taking the time to help - appreciated.

The EFI blink code is as eady as it gets. My video of it is linked here http://www.midlandbullets.co.uk/smf/ind ... pic=9775.0 . Checking the TPS with a meter is childs play, 5V from the ECU at one pin, a good ground at a percentage of the 5V going back to the ECU depending in throttle position. The idle stop on the throttle body is what you have been playing with. You'll need a paper clip or needle probes to get into the TPS connector.

For the starter motor I'd take a pair of jump leads and go directly battery to motor. If it turns you are looking for a wiring fault, so jump it at the solenoid. If it won't turn its the motor or earth connection for the motor body.
