Missing part on reciept

Hi all,
I recently purchased a despatch... there's a bit missing for the exhaust (the little clip looking thing that sits behind the right peg with two screws holding it on.
Two questions: 1. Do I need it?
2. Where do I get a (black) replacement? (If someone from Hitchcock wants to chime in, that's great as I can't find it in your online catalogue. You'll probably get some business out of me!
And three... is it worth putting an aftermarket exhaust on for the extra 4hp?

A lot of our hosts' stuff isn't in the accessory catalogue, you need to look in the on-line parts books (where it says Parts Books Online) for whichever bike you have. A.

Hello again---- you missed a bit out re. the aftermarket exhaust and that is}--- "Plus the carb. re-jetting that goes with it" to get that extra 4hp.... Remember that the inlet tract---air filter --- exhaust system is a balanced, one-piece system...

If you mean the 2015 LE Despatch C5 like mine I doubt you'll be able to find spares for the LE bits, though I could be wrong. The heat guard thingy had loose rivets on mine and I took it off. FWIW my original black log exhaust is sitting in the garage rafters. Yes, it does help replacing the standard bazooka with a free flowing exhaust though IMHO it's better to adjust the fuelling to suit either with a Power Commander or a carb conversion. If you are not talking about an LE Despatch please ignore.

Rattle battle, got it in one! Known error and non-essential eh? Will continue to ignore (unless you really no longer want yours!)
What did you replace with?

The foot guard (or whatever fancy name it has for a bit of bent wire) has been known to come loose because it is only riveted on and the rivets are too small IMHO. The bl**dy thing used to get in the way when I used the kickstarter, so I decided to remove my footguard and chuck it in the bin. Just left with the loosening screws on the larger heat shield; several owners have lost a few of those on the ride home from the dealer, before loctiting them in. I lost one before doing the same. I fitted our hosts superior British chrome silencer and matching wider bore exhaust pipe. It definitely sounds a lot better and is more lively too, though I doubt it liberates 4bhp. I decided to fit a carb conversion to mine as I had several issues with the EFI - mostly down to poor connections and wiring. I chose this route because it was cheaper than a Power Commander and more flexible should I change the inlet or exhaust again in future. I feel it looks better too as it looks more like an old Brit single. Whether ot not you really need to do anything at all if you just fit the silencer and exhaust I don't know, but the exhaust pipe is less restrictive because there is nothing in it. This will influence the gas flow and I feel that the fuelling should be adjusted to compensate. However, it may well run fine but as I haven't tried it I don't know. Hope that helps.
