I've just bought a new tappet cover gasket as the old one was weeping, the gasket has a little hole in it, I forgot to look at the old one when I took it off!
Where does the hole have to go? Just out of curiosity, what's it for?

Thanks.

Hi the smallhole should fit over a locating dowl bottom L/H corner of tappet chest This stops the cover rotaing when tightening centre nut

Depends which bike it is, my classic engined bullet has a triangular hole in one corner, but no dowel, I always wondered what that was for, probably to equalise the pressure on both sides of the gasket when hot?
