using the parts book and the 1992 500cc model i ordered a new throttle cable from our hosts here.
old style controls. the new cable is an inch shorter than the one that was on already ( probable original one ) and has less clearance of bare cable, this is resulting in my throttle being pulled a quarter open when the cable is installed and the obvious terrifying hilarious first start that nearly threw me over the fence with kickback.

whats the cracke? how do i make this usable?
also i tryed some vincent straight bars also from our host but the old style controls just whack into the tank all the time, is that what people put up with? thats crazyness! :p prob just go back to stock bars, i was trying to catch less wind as im abnormally tall from the waist up and become abit of a sail in the sit up and beg. maybe if the straight bars were longer? or new controls? what do people do? thanks!

Basically it only leaving me 2cm tops to wrap around my throttle Rotter, when it needs about 5cm so it's not lifting the carb slider. What am I doing wrong? All looks good in the carb end and I musta done this a million times. It's not the bars cause that doesn't effect the throttle housing distance. I know this isn't high in technical excitement but any ideas would stop me drinking to much coffee right now.

Cant help with handlebar probs but buying indian made cables or any indian made spares can be a lottery..

I would report back to Mr H and order a UK made cable delivered to your door Tuesday morn..

It's defo defo the cablei put back my old one that is frayed and doesn't spring back and other than that it fits fine. Just a few cm in difference.
And yeahhhh of course it was Indian one. I didn't want it to be true but... Why make something that doesn't work?

With a little careful work you can shorten the outer cable, taking care not to nick the new inner.

aye, cheers for reply, i hoped so too, but 3hours careful work left me with enough to wrap around the throttle but it sits kinda raggered and stops the throttle from springing back into place so i guess im on foot til i can order a new one. ill give hitchcocks a call monday morning and see if its a common thing with the indian made throttle cables. gutted.
