Hello everybody, I'm from India and own a 2014 continental Gt I was going through a Continental GT group page on Facebook. I came across an image posted by a member, wherein the LHS engine cover was cracked with the timing chain coming out.I have seen three to four such cases on FB. Guys do you have any idea why this happened and any precautionary measures which can be taken to avoid such an incident.

No definitive answer as yet but some benefit may be gained by replacing the primary chain with better quality as tight spots may allow the auto tensioner to over tighten the chain under hard acceleration.

As these work as a ratchet mechanism once tightened they will not release and reset so chain remains too tight..

Clutch hub fixing nut torque needs checking as some have come loose but thats nothing new, however chain alignment with sprag gear could also be checked..

Have a read here...
