I've spent the last couple of weeks changing all the fluids, checking it over, filing the points to reveal something that conducts electricity, cleaning out the petrol tank, and giving it a new battery, spark plugs and brake and clutch cables.

. Started in about half a dozen kicks, I nursed it on the throttle for a few minutes and it settled down to a steady idle. Took it for a tootle up and down the village, the engine is a bit rough when revved but brakes, clutch, gearbox etc all seem OK.

Hmm. The bike seems to be better than my ability to post videos of it. And please ignore the other (duplicate) thread. Damn modern technology!

There you go everyone, just look and listen to that. It's a Meteor Minor DE LUXE of course. Quite rare and nice to see another.

I should add... Does anybody realise exactly how many years one guy spent in trying to source the fully enclosed chain guard and the connecting rubbers for one of these?

Revband

when the bike surfaced on ebay ISTRC the listing mentioned one was the original number, which was lost, the other was an age-related number issued later. I cannot remember which is which.

I think ed should be celebrating this once he has cleaned up that little bit of oil on the paving slab...

You're right Adrian -- previous owner changed the registration in 1993, but the front number is painted on and I'm a bit reluctant to do anything about it.
