You may have a bit of drag causing the gear dogs to collide harshly.
Your cable may have stretched a bit.

It might help to know how many miles its done.. mine was a bit 'clunky' for the first 2000 but shifts quite smoothly now after nearly 3000... The box sweetens up with use.

I guess it depends what you're used to? I'd say the Enfield box is a bit clunky, but no worse than some Guzzis I've owned. Certainly never going to be "Honda" smooth though,,,,,,,,

The gearchange on my 2015 LE Despatch isn't bad but it is a little clunky. I use the old BMW riders' trick of pre-loading the gear lever. Before actually chaging gear apply light pressure to the gear lever. Get it right and the gear will slip in silently. It's a matter of practice really. Don't imagine that it will change gear better with slow deliberate movements. The box is way better than the old Albion monstrosity and responds well to quick changes. As ever, they do get better with mileage. Make sure also that the clutch cable free play is set correctly.

Interestingly I was only remarking to a friend as to how slick the gear changes are on my 2015 C5 Classic. Maybe I've dropped lucky or it just seems slick after downsizing from a bigtwin HD.

Yep, sounds lucky to me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I still have a 1450 Softail and can easily effect silent changes up and down the box,,,,,, not managed that with the Enfield yet, I think the Enfield has a couple of extra neutrals that I've never found in a Harley box too,,,,,,,,,, That's not a criticism BTW, as I'm sure the salesman would say "it's just a feature of the model sir",,,,,

Might be an idea to check chains for adjustment if not already done..

Too tight or loose can have an effect on selection..
