Does anyone know which Motobatt battery is the right one for a 2008 Electra 4 speed iron barrel electric start. I have one on the Electra X and it is superb but there are so many Motobatt batteries on the suppier's webiste it would be easy to make the wrong purchase.

Presumably you want as near a like-for-like replacement as possible regarding size and amp hours. If this Electra is the Indian home market job as distinct from your UK model Electra-X it's only a 350, so it might not need the X's 14AH battery to crank it over. However, if your charging system is healthy I would use the largest Motobatt that will physically fit in the battery box.



After using a Motobatt on my Electra-X I was also very pleased with the quality. It transformed the electric start, at least until the sprag clutch failed. :-/

Thank you Adrian it was your advice that let me to get the Motobatt for the Electra X and, similarly, it is great and similarly, the Sprag failed and has been jettisoned, thus saving lots of weight. I think it is probably the same battery that will suffice for the Electra iron barrel 500cc UK bike that I have. Problem is, I detest the yellow!

Other makes of AGM battery in less lurid shades are available, try our hosts or Paul Goff's site for alternatives, though you may be able to paint the Motobatt a different colour. I think your 500 iron barrel Bullet is just the plain old electric start Bullet, the only model called the Electra in the UK was the Electra-X. A.
