I have a dilemma re fitting new handlebars to my two year old C5 Classic. The original bars have holes pre-drilled for locating the controls. The new bars US style purchased from our host has no holes. Now, do I drill new holes in the new bar or remove the lugs in the controls that would have located into them.
If I remove lugs will this have a major impact in securing the controls?

Its certainly a lot easier to remove the plastic prongs, and if the controls tend to rotate on the bar, (thats why they are there to prevent), a bit of tape round the bar will stop that. I have done it both ways before, the trick is measuring position of new holes. Distance from end of bar is eay, but position around the bar less so! And if you choose to drill, use a centre punch to start the hole, preferably with a smaller drill first.

Thanks Nettshubby. I suspected as much and have seen both methods used on YouTube videos. It's the first bike that I have had with this system and I can see the pros and cons for both. I guess on Indian roads you don't want the controls wandering around as you negotiate potholes, cows and. goats etc. As I will be experimenting to find the most comfortable position for me the lug-less approach is where I'll go. And I have lots of tape.
