Any of you blokes know how you anneal a solid copper head gasket, cant remember if you heat it then let it cool or plunge it edge on into cold water.

Either way is OK however plunge into cold water removes most of the scabbiness

Cherry red is the advised colour, you decide how ripe they are ðŸ˜

Yes, cherry red which is beyond dull red but don't start getting yellow or you risk melting it.
Best result is if you keep it at cherry red for a few minutes.
As Bryan says, a quench in cold water usually gets rid of all the oxide and doesn't effect the temper.
