Have a problem with my continental gt speedo and rev counter suffering from condensation on the inside of the glass in cool weather conditions,would be interested to see if anyone else has the same problem,and can they somehow be sealed better to cure the problem,any input would be appreciated.

Condensation inside meter glasses usually fixes itself in a day or two - slower after the change of illumination to LED lamps, I've noticed, heat generated from traditional lamps is quite useful here!

I don't think in fifty years i've had an illuminated gauge on a bike that didn't mist up on a cold night..

Non illuminated gauges don't, therein lies a clue me thinks..

I've tried removing the bulb holder and drying the gauge with a hair dryer, refit the bulb and its great for a few weeks and then starts fogging again..

Seems the bulb warms the moist air inside the gauge which then condenses on the cold glass, so a cure maybe to use a LED for cold illumination, cannot condense if the temperature is the same on both sides of glass..

Sealing the unit up is the opposite thing to do. Think about your bathroom, if your windows mist up on inside you open the window to equalise the temperature. You really need to ventilate the housind to achieve the same thing. As a test, try running the bike with a bulb holder pulled out and see what happens.

My GT is kept in an unheated garage and I try to use it as much as possible throughout the year but this is the second winter the damp has affected the LCD meter. The button that changes the mileage to the 2 trip stops working, and at the moment it's stuck on Trip A showing zero miles! I'm pretty sure that when the weather warms up and the sun dries it out, it'll bring into life just as it did last year. John

After sitting in the garage last winter, when I brought my GT out the instruments quickly misted up inside. They continued to do this for a few weeks afterwards. I'm expecting the same to happen again when I start to use the bike in April. The only other bike I've had that I can remember doing this was an Aprilia Pegaso.

Thanks for all the input, seems not uncommon ,so will live with it.especially as johnL and KC 1961 both have continentals. it just surprised me as i cant remember this happening on the bikes i had back in the 60s, but perhaps they dont make them like they used to !

Well, I took my bike out this morning and did just short of 60 miles. Shortly before getting home I noticed that there was condensation at the bottom of both clocks.
