Hello all,

I am new to the forum and have just bought a 1961 Crusader sports in need of restoration, I am trying to work out what the original frame colour would have been when it left the facory.

after sanding the layers begin frame, red, grey, Black, metallic blue (all these layer look professionally done) and then some awful hammerite black.

any help much appreciated

Thanks Beiran

Black. Definitely. If you are interested in the 250s you may like to know there is a Yahoo Group especially for them, Google Yahoo Groups then search for Crusader Technical Group and join up.

I was told a while ago that the best match for the frame was BMW Black 086, available from Autopaints in Brighton in aerosol or tin. I have used the aerosol for touch up and it seems fine.

Hi, it has been mentioned that the Redditch factory used old paint stocks as undercoat, hence difference colours. Vince.
