Has anybody converted a classic 500 engine oil pump to gear driven types as from the Electra , would the timing cover/oil pump housing fit even with mods ? The spert spert nature of the oil pump is its let down when pushing the engine for power, is it possible to machine the original caseing to take the gears and spindle ?

Forget about it, massive work involved, I ended up using Electra cases and timing cover and built it into a cast iron engine and gear pumps. Works beautifully but it was only dont to prove it could be done . Financially totally impracticle
