Hi all, can anyone tell me how I could find out if my uncles bike is still in existence. Its a 1960 Royal Enfield Meteor Reg. number NOL 424
It would mean so much to our family just to know if it was still alive

Al, it's not on the DVLA database. You can search the DVLA site for an enquiry like this by clicking on Vehicle Enquiry on the main site menu. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist unregistered somewhere but it's not a good sign, I'm afraid.

Try The REOC.."Royal Enfield Owners Club" as Some as the Fan base for some Models keep lists of all them encounted etc, and they might have the Factory records of Pre Uncle Ownership... ;0)

Al, there are sites that have historic photos of bikes but sadly the REOC does not have the info Craig suggests unless you know the engine and frame numbers. This would still not answer the question whether it survives. Lots of folk post (usually just the once, we never hear from them again which makes it quite depressing answering,) wondering if a bike has made it through to the present day and statistically it's unlikely, just think about the huge numbers made, even by a small Factory like Enfield! Oh, by the way, what do you mean Meteor? In 1960 there was a Super Meteor (700cc twin) and a Meteor Minor (500cc twin) and Meteor Minor Sports (500cc twin) but the Meteor (700cc twin) was discontinued in 1955. It helps to know what we're looking for! If you have any pictures or photos, compare them with the original Brochure pictures in the Photo Gallery on this site. All the same, good luck,

Hi, as I remember it the bike was a 700cc so maybe it was the 1960 super meteor. Its nice to know that there are people out there willing to help with this question. regards alan
